NBA fantasy basketball is not nearly as popular as fantasy football but it can be more fun and also more fair since injuries don't play as big of a role.

The fact that NBA fantasy basketball relies on many different categories means it's important to get a good draft strategy together now.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Draft Player Rankings

1. Kobe Bryant-

He stuffs the stat sheets and the Lakers will only get better with Andrew Bynum grabbing boards. He remains at the top of the rankings.

2. LeBron James-

Some have him a bit lower but he deserves to go second or maybe first in fantasy drafts. He could get more assists passing to new teammates such as Maurice Williams.

3. Amare Stoudemire-

Despite a torn iris (not as bad as it sounds), Stoudemire should be a top 3 fantasy draft pick. He can play either center or power forward and put up huge numbers.

4. Chris Paul-

Want assists? Want points? Want a ton of steals? Want the next superstar in fantasy basketball? Pick him.

5. Dirk Nowitzki-

Great 3-pt shooting for a PF, good rebound, great scoring.

6. Kevin Garnett-

He will put up big numbers across the board but won't score as much as others.

7. Shawn Marion-

A little risky to take him on the Heat but he continues to put up numbers in all fantasy stat categories, keeping him high in the fantasy basketball rankings.

8. Dwyane Wade-

If the Olympics are any indication, Wade is back so grab him early in your fantasy draft in 2008.

9. Steve Nash-

He's getting up there in age but still racks up assists and threes.

10. Dwight Howard-

The next great big man is here in fantasy basketball.

11. Allen Iverson-

Don't worry about him slowing down, he's simply a freak of nature at PG/SG.

12. Deron Williams-

Younger and less risky than Steve Nash with some upside left for a good Jazz team in fantasy basketball.

13. Josh Smith-

Jack of all trades at SF/PF, he will keep your competitive most weeks in 2008.

14. Elton Brand-

Expect a big comeback fantasy year in the East with Philadelphia. He could end up ranking higher by the end of the year.

15. Marcus Camby-

Blocks and boards are very valuable in fantasy basketball and this PF/C will get them if healthy for the Clippers.

16. Tim Duncan-

Consistent as always, Duncan delivers from a fantasy basketball perspective every year and should for many more to come.

17. Vince Carter-

No Jason Kidd but Devin Harris will feed him the ball plenty of times for big 2008 fantasy numbers.

18. Carmelo Anthony-

No defense, but plenty of scoring and rebounding for Melo making him a second-round fantasy draft pick.

19. Kevin Durant-

A bit high for him? Possibly, but he's worth the risk. He shot much better in the second half of the NBA season and could be a sleeper in fantasy basketball drafts.

20. Baron Davis-

Big fantasy numbers on the horizon for this new Clipper star if he stays healthy. Pair him with someone more consistent in round 1 of your fantasy draft.
